Replacement of an old and large Velux plus replacements of a few hanging tiles. Good communication, flexible on the timescale to link in with other contract work. The two man team 'gang' worked hard, very diligent, professional, cleaned up well afterwards and it looks very professional. I did feel the project was over priced but I needed it done, however invoiced as their estimate so it was my call to make.![]()

Cornerstone provided a professional survey of our rather unusual shape garden room roof and came up with a quotation that seemed very reasonable for the work required which included removing 5x polycarbonate sheets on a sloping part of the roof, installing boarding and three layers of felt in their place plus re-felting a triangular flat portion of the roof to make a seamless felted roof. The gang arrived onsite ontime and worked really hard in the extreme heatwave. Plenty of tea and cold drinks supplied! The roof was completed ontime and looks very neat. I was particularly impressed with the 'above and beyond' attitude they applied to the job to make sure that it would provide good drainage in wet weather straight into the gutter. 25 year guarantee too!![]()

I have tried to get a reliable roofing company to replace my house gutters and downpipes for several months. I finally spoke to Cornerstone Roofing a few weeks back. I can honestly say it was the best phone call I have made in several years. From start to finish Cornerstone were superb. Fantastic communication, site inspection, quote and completion of work. I very rarely write reviews because there is little exceptional to write about but Cornerstone deserves every one of the five stars I have given them on this review. They are honest, professional, competitive, give transparent advice and the work carried out was nothing short of perfect. If I ever require roofing work to be done in the future I have only one number to call and will have no hesitation in using Cornerstone as my first point of contact.![]()

Cornerstone roofing removed a skylight, then boarded over the gap, and re boarded and felted our garage roof. I was really impressed with all the guys that did the job, they were efficient and friendly and really clean and tidy. The workmanship was really good. Would definitely recommend them! However, it did take ages to receive a quote and the admin side was not quite as efficient which was a shame but the work and roofers were great so would definitely use again. 5 stars! Thank you!![]()

Great service, very professional from start to finish.
Shingle roofing is a popular choice due to its versatility and cost-effectiveness. Typically made from asphalt, wood, or composite materials, shingles are known for their durability and ease of installation. They come in various colours and styles, allowing for a customised look that can match your home’s architectural style. Asphalt shingles, in particular, offer excellent waterproofing capabilities and are a practical option for many homeowners.
Slating involves the use of slate tiles, a natural stone known for its longevity and distinctive appearance. Slate roofs are incredibly durable, often lasting over a century with proper maintenance. They are fire-resistant and provide excellent insulation properties. The natural beauty of slate lends an elegant and timeless look to any property, making it a preferred choice for those seeking a combination of durability and aesthetic appeal.
Stone roofing is another option for those looking for natural beauty and exceptional durability. Stone tiles, typically made from materials like limestone or sandstone, are known for their strength and resistance to harsh weather conditions. They offer a unique, rustic appeal and can significantly enhance the visual impact of a building. Stone roofing is also environmentally friendly, as it involves natural materials and provides excellent insulation.
Tiling is a widely used roofing style, with options ranging from clay tiles to concrete tiles. Clay tiles are valued for their natural look and ability to withstand extreme weather conditions. They also provide excellent thermal properties, keeping homes cooler in summer and warmer in winter. Concrete tiles, on the other hand, are a more cost-effective alternative, offering versatility in colour and style while maintaining durability and weather resistance.
Our services cater to a diverse range of residential and commercial properties within these areas, ensuring that every client has access to our specialised pitched roofing solutions. Whether it’s a charming family home nestled in the suburbs of Haywards Heath, a thriving business in the heart of Burgess Hill, or any other location within the Mid Sussex region,
Pitched roof costs vary considerably depending on the roof’s size and pitch, the materials chosen (clay tiles, interlocking concrete tiles, natural slate, stone, or shingle), site access, and any additional work needed on flashings, valleys, ridge tiles or insulation. Rather than give a misleading ballpark, we book a free on-site visit and provide a written quote based on your specific roof so the figures you’re working with are real.
Pitched roof timescales depend on the roof’s size and pitch, the material being fitted, site access, the weather, and the scope of any timber, felt, batten or leadwork repairs we find underneath once stripping starts. Smaller jobs such as garage, porch or conservatory roofs are often wrapped up in a few days, mid-sized domestic re-roofs typically run for a few weeks, and larger or more complex roofs can take significantly longer. We’ll give you a clear timeline in writing alongside your quote so you know what to plan around.
We work with the full range of common UK pitched roof materials: clay tiles, interlocking concrete tiles, natural slate, stone such as limestone and sandstone, and shingles in asphalt, wood or composite. We’ll help you choose a material that suits your property’s style, the look you’re after, and the long-term budget you want to plan around.
The most common warning signs are slipped, cracked or missing tiles or slates, sagging or dipped ridges, damp patches or staining on upstairs ceilings, daylight visible from inside the loft, shingle granules building up in gutters, and damaged ridge or hip tiles. Localised damage usually only needs a targeted repair, but widespread tile failure, sagging roof timbers or recurring leaks normally point towards a full re-roof. We’ll always recommend the most cost-effective option after a proper inspection.
Yes. Repairs to pitched roofs, from storm damage and slipped tiles to ridge tile re-bedding and leadwork, are handled through our roof repairs service, which also covers flat roofs. We work throughout Mid Sussex from our base in Scaynes Hill, including Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Cuckfield, Hurstpierpoint, Hassocks, Lindfield and the surrounding villages.
Our pitched roof installations carry a 10-year insurance-backed warranty on our workmanship, alongside the relevant manufacturer guarantees on the tiles, slates or shingles fitted. The warranty terms are set out in writing as part of your quote so it’s clear exactly what’s covered before any work starts on site.
Routine care makes a noticeable difference to a pitched roof’s lifespan. Keep gutters clear so water can drain freely, check ridge and hip tiles after periods of high wind, deal with moss build-up before it has a chance to lift tiles, and have the roof inspected every few years. Catching small issues (a cracked tile, lifted leadwork, perished mortar) early is consistently the cheapest way to keep a pitched roof watertight.
